Gods it must be dry out there... Another car I havn't seen on the road
for about ten years!
OK, obviously they rust - except the boot and bonnet (or whatever you lot
call 'em, the bits that cover the engine and the luggage...) which are
made of aluminum and are buggers to repair and tend to loose their paint
(comes from not using an acid etch primer).
If there's anything wrong with the front suspension, make sure you can
get parts as it's possibly the most complex front suspension on earth -
because it was designed, believe it or not, to allow for fitting a gas
turbine engine...
The rear suspension and brakes *look* nasty (inboard disks and De-Dion
axle) but are fairly trouble free, though the rear pads are a sod to
change. If you have never seen a De-Dion setup before, take a look, then
reflect on the fact that it *is* independent.
Watch out for power steering rack (if fitted) tearing loose from
mountings and don't expect the engine to go more than 70-80k without a
rebuild. You can shoehorn one of those little Buick aliminum V8's in and
make it into a home-brew 3500s if the engines shot, after all, Rover did!
Good Luck!
