[alfa] American Collectors Insurance

Hello all,

Not longa ago someone mentioned American Colllectors
Insurance on the list for declared value insurance on
older autos. I clicked on the link that was in the
post and, for the fun of it, filled out the quote
sheet and sent it off. It returned an estimate of
$49.00 A YEAR. I currently pay something close to that
for a MONTH of insurance on my 1978 Spider. It seems
too good to be true. I got a booklet in the mail from
them and they gave me a final quote of $49.60 for a
year.

I'm really tempted, but before I take the plunge, I
was just wondering if anyone else has experience with
these people? Any good service or bad service stories?
Any inherent downside in this kind of insurance as
opposed to something that isn't "declared value?" Just
looking for any hiden pitfalls that might explain the
price. Or is it just cheap because the assumption is
low mileage? I drive mine about 2,000 miles a year but
the quote was even based on 2,500 a year. Any thoughts
much appreciated.

Colin
