[alfa] Other forums (was single-row timing chains)

Jon Pike commented:
Anyone spend a lot of time in large Mercedes forums? I checked out a few
web BBS's.. nothing like the Alfa world. Seems that almost nobody works
on their own Benz. I literally spent 20+ minutes searching the Net for
the spark plug gap spec!! Whole 'nother world... ;-)
------------------------------

Might have as much to do with the fact that Merc sell current generation
cars in your part of the world? It's been an interesting experience lurking
in a few BBS's for modern Alfas now that I have a 156.

Topics mainly include which 17 or 18" mags look best, interior trim
upgrades, which mechanical warranty, audio upgrades, suspension kits and who
to get to fit them, how often to change the cam belt and who to get to do
it, ECU remaps and who to get to do it, and fitting clear indicators and
taillights (like a Lexus...). Ohh, and what type of polish and leather
cleaner to use. Last discussion about spark plugs was just an explanation to
somebody about what twinspark meant before he went off to have his
"twinsparks" changed. But hey, that's the nice thing about cars that aren't
30+ years old, they don't generally need as much fixing. Touch (plastic
interior trim fake) wood.
