[alfa] re: OT: Italian Scoots

Moto Guzzis invariably need sorting out-the-door, as quality control in the factory is iffy. Nonetheless, once faulty relays are replaced, and throttle bodies balanced -- just to name a few -- Guzzis will run forever. Compared to Ducatis, maintenance is a snap, e.g., valve adjustment takes about 15 minutes per cylinder.

I had a 97 Guzzi Sport that I bought new in 1998 and rode for 32K miles until it was ignominiously stolen & thrashed by human vermin.

Although the 03 Aprilia Falco I purchased as a replacement (thanks State Farm!) is superior in every way, I still miss the Guzzi. It was a visceral machine that embodied the essence of motorcycling in a way that few bikes could match. Sorta like an Alfa when compared to other cars.
