Re: [alfa] Car Shipping

Be aware that most of the "shippers" you see on the internet are not
shippers, but brokers. When they get a contract to carry a car, they merely call
a transporter for the work and never actually see the car themselves. They are
very careful not to tell you this and will go to great lengths to make you
think they are in control of your car, but they are not at all. With a little
research, you can hook up directly to a transporter who will indeed be in charge
of your car and will be the one working with it. The transporter will be
fully insured and more reliable than a broker. They can actually tell you where
your car is at any particular time. The broker I dealt with when I shipped mine
had to call the transporter each time I needed information until I finally
learned who the transporter was. That is when I found out that I could have dealt
with them directly, been better satisfied, and saved several hundred dollars.

Also be aware that brokers use different names and if you call several
different numbers, you will most likely be dealing with the same people anyway.
After careful consideration, the broker I used sold my contract to another
one anyway. Call a local used car dealer and get the name of a good carrier.

Can anyone recommend a reliable and reasonable shipper to transport a GTV6
that I am buying from New York to Texas? All the transporters' web sites say
the same things so it's kind of like rolling the dice as far as choosing one.
I'd feel much better with a recommendation from a fellow Alfisti.
Thanks in advance
