[alfa] Re: 164 electrical problem

Ed,
Well, the first thing you do is take that battery down to a local auto parts
seller or battery store and verify it is doing what a battery should.
Next, proceed to cut the problem into smaller pieces. Unplug all the little
light bulbs you can find, see if the car still drains the battery down with all
the bulbs out. If so, you have just cut down the size of the problem by that
measure. Narrow the fault search down this way until you have the culprit
surrounded.
And when you go to sell this car, it previously belonging to an Alfa Rep. is
not a pride point. You may have to knock $1,500 off the price if your buyer
finds this out.

Subject: [alfa] 164 electrical problem
Hi all:
Anyone have an idea where and how to start trouble shooting a major battery
drain problem? If the car sets for 4 or 5 days, the battery goes completely
dead. Any obvious places to start looking? No obvious drains noticed like
lights staying on anywhere. Have VT/VM meter handy. Thanks for any helpful
info.
Also, will be selling this nice car soon before I move overseas. Green, good
shape, formerly belonged to Alfa rep, nice extras---$4000.
