Re: [alfa] clutch slave removal (1976 Alfa Spider)

Pat,
Got the car jacked up for easy access? Then get out a large
adjustable spanner and your BlueTorch (propane). Look at the cylinder and
you'll see some flats; adjust your spanner to fit the flats so that you can
rotate the cylinder. Then fire up the BlueTorch and play the flame around
the aluminum boss that holds the cylinder. Soon you'll be able turn the
cylinder with the spanner as the aluminum expands; now extract the cylinder.

Most of the time dirt gets inbetween the cylinder and the boss which
prevents removal. Before installing the new cylinder, clean out the boss
thoroughly; a little anti-seize doesn't hurt either.

I'm trying to remove a clutch slave from the bell housing mount on a 1976
Alfa Spider. I've removed the two snap rings, but the cylinder doesn't
budge with modest tapping with a hammer. Any other secrets--or a bigger
hammer?
