[alfa] Re:Buying an Alfa on EBay - or elsewhere !

I have considered, and ultimately turned down various cars advertised on EBay
because I always insist that the seller takes a (VHS) video of the car and
sends it to me first. The video should be taken both from a distance and in
closeup with the seller walking slowly around the car and zooming in on any spots
that need attention or need to be disclosed. This includes wheels and tires,
interior, roof/top as well as exterior, engine bay and trunk in closeup. Then
start the engine and have it run for a while and if possible, enter the cabin
and show the instruments on the dash in closeup. Also check the sound coming
from the exhaust. Then, and only then, I shall try and have a local Alfanut
check out the car for me if one happens to live/work close by, otherwise I shall
fly out and see it. And yes, I always return the video and even pay for
camcorder rental if they do not have one.
