Re: [alfa] 72- 74 GTV Instrument Cluster

Marc,
I have been able to remove the instrument cluster from my '73 GTV,
removed the printed circuit board, and extracted the plastic speedo and tach
covers. I used some plastic cleaner&polish (Novus brand) on both sides
which improved visibility quite a bit. You can also clean all the idiot
light covers as well. I was thinking of replacing the covers with glass
ones but they are dished.

Subject: [alfa] 72- 74 GTV Instrument Cluster

As many of you know and lament, the differences ibetween the instrument
clusters of the 1750 GTVs and 1972-74 GTVs were significant. Not only was
it
a less pretty design but the lenses covering the speedometer and tach went
from glass to clear plastic.
Over time, these plastic lenses tend to get cloudy. And clear plastic does
not respond to polish. The plastic simply seems to deteriorate.

Does anyone know if the 2 plastic lenses covering the speedometer and the
tach
can be removed and replaced? Anyone ever tried this? Any suggestions would
be much appreciated.
