[alfa] Hammering Shifter

I was headed across town yesterday, not too hurried
and a couple times as I accelerated not too quickly from
a stop, the shifter decided to swing wildly forward and back
making a hammering sound as it did. What could cause
such a thing? The only thing that comes to mind is the
old engine and transaxle mounts in my '84 GTV6. I looked
at them and all are firmly bolted down, The engine side
mount rubber and front transaxle rubber look as new but
I couldn't see the rear engine silentblock rubber or rear
transaxle silentblock rubber. Suggestions anyone?
	TIA
