I'll have to second Brian's diagnosis. Also, one of the first pieces of good advice I got on this list (I don't consider the people telling me "yes, replace your daily driver Audi 4kq with a Spider" good advice, but that's another story) was to make sure to get an Alfa Romeo original labeled part or a new (not rebuilt) Sachs. Though it is kinda weird that this just started happening. Has it ever happened before? Do you notice it gradually increasing in severity as the car warms up?

'78 Spider (new clutch, rebuilt top end, 2 head gaskets, new ignition, new fan blade, new water pump, refurbished driveshaft, but other than that it's run great!)

was still running normal in the morning without any problems.

It sounds like the clutch is worn and slipping. You're not resting your
left foot on the clutch pedal, are you?
