I've got the Bilstein's in my '74 Spider, and I've got to tell you, I hate 
them.  They are so stiff that the car just leaps over bumps, especially 
higher-frequency stuff like washboards.  I've had Koni Red's on many a 
Spider and a few GTV's, and loved them.  My '87 Spider has a new set of OEM 
Spica shocks, and while they're not adjustable like the Koni's (neither are 
the Bilstein's), I've got no complaints.  Just the right amount of firmness 
for a hard-driven street car.  If I ever get the time to pull the 
Bilstein's, watch for them on eBay, and I'll replace them with Koni Red's.

Changing the shocks isn't a bad job, but plan for a few hours.  The rears 
will take more time, as you've got to pull down the carpet on the rear 
valence of the cockpit to access the panels the shocks pass through.
