[alfa] Alfa 2L engines interchangeable?

OK, I should probably already know this, but here goes . . . I have an '88
Alfa Spider Quad and need to replace the block/crank/rods.
First: I bought a crank and rods from an '84/'86 Spider that look really
good, only the front shaft (pulley end) is a bit smaller diameter than the one
I removed (the pulley fits both and all other dimensions appear to be the
same). Is there any difference that would make it not suitable for my Quad?
Second: Upon removing the original crank, I found the #2 main journal to be
worn more than I feel comfortable for re-use. So, I want to replace the
block, too. My question here is... Is there a difference in Alfa 2L engine
blocks between 1984 and 1988? (or between the Quad and other EFI Spiders?)
I'm looking at a block on eBay that closes Tuesday evening, so a quick
answer or two would be very much appreciated. I really-really-really want to
get my baby back on the road!!!!!! It's SO close now! Thanks everyone!
