If you do this, a scammer can issue electronic checks from your account. This sounds like a variation of the fake certified check scam.

If they want to do this, and it's worth your time, ask your bank to set up an account for reciept of a wire transfer only. Thats what they are there for. It might cost you a fee.

There are also online services like paypal and others. Again, there is a fee, but it sure beats having someone empty your entire account.
