Re: [alfa] Dash recovering on GTV

Fred, can't help on shop recommendations but....................

My Duetto was done years ago in stitched vinyl and as I was not familiar
with Duetto's before purchase, it looks like it belongs.

A couple of things to beware of. The Duetto's dash top is very simple but
I'd guess that more complicated shapes would require careful gluing to
ensure the covering followed all the profiles. Be careful around small
holes like the screen demist vents, they are difficult to trim neatly. If
the vinyl is thin, the glue profile underneath may show thru eventually, but
then so might the old dash cracks.

Just ask and I'll provide a pic of the "double" stitching on my dash.

Leather Vs Vinyl. Hmmmm. Modern vinyl, if you use quality stuff, will last
longer with little TLC. As it's reinforced the stiching should also be
stronger. Leather may, I say may be more expensive, but can be made to
last indefinitely with care. It also shows small scars easily but we'll
call that patina !

Me, I'd go leather in a closed car just for the smell.
