re: [alfa] Twin Spark idle
Warren,
It is possible that it is the airflow flow, but I think it more likely that
the idle speed controller is sticking. This item is something that I give
regular attention to in my 20,000km Fuel injection cleaning routine. I
have had great success using either Electrical contact cleaner, or CO spray
cleaner. I remove the device from the intake manifold, and spray into the
orifices and shake.
Of course, check for air leaks in all the vacuum hoses and the air intake.
I never cease to be amazed at the way hoses crack, and only on the bottom
side where you can't see it or hear it.
HTH.
Cheers,
david

Subject: [alfa] Twin Spark idle
I have an Alfa 75 Twin Spark engine with the standard Motronic FI in my 68
1750 GTV, which is running fine. However every now and then after running
at speed, the idle sits at 1100 RPM rather than the 850 or so that it
normally sits at. This is usually remedied by giving the throttle a small
blip and the idle returns to 850. I'm guessing that this is the air flow
flap sticking - any other suggestions? As far as I can tell there appears
to be nothing catching on the accelerator pedal.
