had the same starting from hot problems. Additional to what already has been suggested

To check the pump:

 - you should see the fuel in the fuel filter ?
 - disconnect the fuel line after the filter and messure flow (the necessary amount is specified in the ROM)
 - look it there is 12V at the pump (-> inertia switch)

If all that is ok I suspect your carb to flood the inlet manifold when stopping or you run a to rich mixture. Remove the airfilter and the elbows. Stop the engine hot, pull the throttle and look what happens. In may case a significant amount of fuel ran down the carbs, settling in the inlet manifold and giving you a much to rich mixture on the next start.

Waiting long enough is the intermediate solution to allow the fuel to dry out.
Additional a flooded car will start best with a full opened throttle, but I always needed jump start help I needed some time just cranking ...

As I will wait to rebuild the carbs till next winter I set the mixture a little more weeker.
