1971 Stag

Hi Gordon & Barbara

Looks like you're already 'sold' on this Stag - $9,000 Canadian sounds
reasonably priced too if it is truly as you describe. Have you looked
underneath the car to make sure it has been preserved well and not
destroyed by being driven in winter on heavily salted roads? Please let me
know if you would like some suggestions on exactly where to look for
problems.

Wire wheel rebuilding can be expensive. Never use a wheel with broken
spokes, as the additional load placed on those remaining can cause a domino
effect of breakages. Look very carefully at the rim and if there is any
sign of surface cracking round the spoke-holes, or the centre fixing slots,
then a new wheel is definitely called for. If the wheel is chromed, then
splitting of the surface finish also indicates deformation and possible
splitting of the steel underneath.

Welcome to the world of Stags, may your enjoyment be both full and long
term.
