My instrument illumination rheostat goes from dim to bright and then they go
out!
Maybe there are two types.
There is only one in the Parts Catalogue "D" that I have, but I notice there
is only one knob listed, and I know that is wrong because I have two knobs
with different designs. They are both Stag or sold as such by a Triumph dealer
anyway. One has the little white scale marks around the tiny face joined to an
outer white ring. The other has the scale marks separated from the outer ring.
(If you have James Taylors book there is a good photo on page 20 to show this.
It also shows an incorrect Steering wheel and wrong instrument where clock
should be).
I also have two rheostats so may be I should test the functionality of the
spare one. I might get brighter lights. 
Interesting about the flasher buzzer on the TR. Not keen on that myself, but I
thought I might connect them to the radio speaker. That should be irritating
enough.
