braided Brake Hoses

Greetings from canberra, where the weather is slowly improving towards "topless" conditions.

Gents

A few months back I purchased a couple of sets of braided brake Hoses from Rimmer, one set I have installed on my Stag, another set was for a friend.

The friend took his car to a Leyland/Triumph specialist to have the brake cylinders etc overhauled and ask that they fit the braided hoses.

The reaction was, a definite NO, because they are illegal.

The friend then contacted our local motor registry people who stated that they had not undergone the "whip test". Which apparently means that the ends have to "flogged" like a whip .

At the time, I raised the question of braided Lines on the newsgroup and from responses I know that there are members out there using these lines and therefore wondered if anyone had come across any problems

Does anyone know of any internation testing specifications which apply.

What concerns me is the question of whether may car is legal to drive.

keep staggering brian
