Re: Dip Stick filler tube

Hello All,
This may have been posted, but here goes. The dip stick on early
Mark I Stags became very hot being next to the exhaust manifold, causing
burns. I know this from my early days working at a BL dealership as a
lot mechanic and burning my fingers. BL then added a tube and changed
the dipstick very early on Mark I Stag Engines. There are two
dipsticks, one with a very long handle and shorter dip end, and one with
a long dip end for passing into the dip stick tube and shorter tube.
The relative position of the finger hole for pullinng the dipstick is
basically in the same place, only the stopper is really moved. It is a
good idea to check that the stopper is secure on the dipstick as it has
a tendancy to slide up the dipstick over time and use.

Regards,
Glenn Merrell
