Back from Hols: Unleaded, MPG etc

I see there has been a lot of learned stuff about unleaded fuel while we
were away.

In Germany and Switzerland we used unleaded with the lead replacement
additive mentioned recently by Tom Jell. The cost is a few pennies per
litre and the end cost is less than leaded "Super" in Switzerland - when it
can be found. We did over 2000 miles, of which around 1400 were on
unleaded fuel. The French say leaded will be banned there by end 1999,
but the guys running the filling stations don't believe it because there
are too many old cars.

For general interest:
We got around 21 MPG overall including some town travelling.
At several points in the journey the car went well over 2000M above sea
level without noticeable loss of power or other problems.

The last 600 miles were done in a heatwave and the needle rarely went over
the halfway mark (see recent messages). When it does we switch on a second
fan in front of the (25% up-rated) radiator.
We also switch it on when we stop (eg lunch) after running for any length
of time because the block goes on heating up after the engine is switched
off.
I see recent more technical messages deal with this problem. The fan works
for me.

The wheel trims still rattle.
Anyone know where I can get a set of wires (UK) without having to get a
divorce and take out a mortgage?????

Yours sincerely
