Hi Stephen

Look no further than your Lumenition.  It may be a case of a poor earth
connection somwhere, or the ignition amplifier module may be faulty.  This
is a problem that is commonplace with a hot engine.

The carburrettor air valves should not rise far in a no-load condition, you
need a big engine load to get them to lift very far.
