Re: stag-digest V3 #98

Hi all
Yes I can understand the oil gauge being seen as something else to worry
about.
I am however glad I had an oil pressure gauge after my oil pump was
overhauled, and incorrectly reassembled with a stuck relief valve. The
pressure was going from 5 to 80 and I would never know that without the gauge.
80 is really bad. Stretches chains, but worse I think it wears out the
slippers. Also leaks spring from all over the engine. Just one day with wrong
pressure was enough to send oil running out of my front crank seal and front
end of one head gasket. Fortunately the post rectification lower pressure has
allowed these to settle down and there aren't any drips. I reckon there would
have been if I had not known the oil pressure. As is clear from recent
letters, you can't see the warning lamp in daylight!
So my vote is for the gauge. Mounted in a gauge bracket just under the dash to
the right of the steering column. I don't want to remove my lovely Mk1 clock,
which has an electronic implant. (Forgot to mention that upgrade). Also I dont
want it in those circular Face vents. I would like hot air in those though!
Any ideas how to do that?
