Manual Gearboxes

Hi All

Hope someone can help.

I have just finished overhauling a Mark One manual gearbox with A type
overdrive, upon refilling the gearbox with oil, the manual states that you
need 2.15 litres, but mine took just over 2.6 litres !

Is this correct or have I somehow overfilled the gearbox.

Just a thought the car was raised about 6 - 9 inches off the ground when I
filled it, could that be the fault ?
