Heater Control Valve

A friend of mine has a 73 Stag (US) in which the vacuum control valve (for
the heater inside the car - not on the fire wall) does not work.  He has
tried to find the part from Rimmers but they have not sent the correct part.
Does anyone know if the is a common valve (with another vehicle) or where he
can find one?
