Hi Pelham et al
Your car  may have had a MK2 alternator fitted which has the control box and
red light relay inside, thus dispensing with the need for both the 4TR
alternator control unit screwed on the right inner wing below the power
steering pump, and the warning light control box on the front of the right
suspension leg tower.
The Mk2 unit has a large black plastic cover on the back. Mk1 just has a metal
back.
