RE: Re[4]: [ihc] Pete's AMC 360 swap
The 11" clutch is also the largest offered for the AMC. I am going
aftermarket but have not had the chance to determine exactly what yet.
This may also be the reason for clutch slippage. When I built the engine
Tom Mandera ran it through Desktop Dyno and found that my engine would
produce something over 300 hp and 400 foot pounds of torque (304 and 412 if
I remember correctly). I doubt I get that but even if I come close the
clutch is probably not up to the task. Before the clutch began to slip it
would break the 31x10.5 all terrain tires loose on asphalt at about 2800 RPM
in second if I stepped on it. I got bigger tires, the clutch slips, and I
have not done this lately. It redlines about 5600 RPM now.

Hmmm. According to the brochure, 11" was the max size clutch available
in the Travelall(even with 392) for 1972.
This is exactly the type of info I want to read so as to make my
decision concerning repower. Thanks Pete.
