Yeah, all you young (comparitively speaking) guys, see what the big events are in your future? Looking forward to Medicare. Taint funny!

Then, Jim and Ginger can look forward to getting a supplement so that what Medicare doesn't pay, doesn't bankrupt them. Our supplement runs a few dollars under a $1000 a month. Now that's worth looking forward to.

Strange dilemma for Chuckawalla and me. Even though I carry every spare part except what I am going to need, we don't feel very secure when we're out alone in the Terra. We may need to weigh our options such as putting a lift kit in the GC, or the like.

I liked it a lot better when I felt that the Scout, and I, were unstoppable.

I too enjoy the IHC digest (thanks Richard; and fellow digest members).

Need to visit one or another annual IHC gathering. . .

As for outing alone in the Terra - have you considered an EPIRB?

I gues I need an explanation. What is EPIRB?

TIA Jim A.
EPIRB - Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon

EPIRB (as I used it) can be a generic term for equipment for summoning emergency assistance worldwide.

EPIRB in practice refer to nautical units (some of which have a lot of bells and whistles).

PLB - Personal Locator Beacons - are designed for land use, and are more rudimentary.

If I did a lot of back country rambling, I would carry a PLB as necessary equipment. A lot of people carry GPS, you can get a GPS w/PLB for not much more cost.

You may recall a recent newspaper article regarding an Toshiba TV which started generating an emergency signal. The owner of the TV was surprised to open his front door and find local and US authorities who had responded to the signal.

As I recall, the guy was not charged, and Toshiba gave him a new TV set.
