Regarding toe-in adjustments?
This is so easy, it's really ridiculous!
1. Get some one inch wide masking tape.
2. Jack the front end of the vehicle up to allow the tires
to spin freely, and =MAKE SURE= one of the wheels is facing
forward just as exactly as you can make that one. The other will be
adjusted to the one.
NOTE: Jack the vehicle up using the FRAME, and NOT
the axle, because the rear measurements of the tires which follow,
you'll need the springs to be unloaded in order to get the rear tire
measurements. Otherwise? The oil pan will interfere.
3. As close to the center of both front tires as you can get,
place a band of that masking tape completely around the tires. It's
probably a good idea to lay at least two complete wraps, one exactly
on top of the other.
3a. At this point it's quite important to say that the tape
should be located on both tires in the same way. That is, if the tape on
the first tire is one inch to the left, the the other tire should
also be located
to the left as well.
4. Using a jack stand and a C clamp, clamp a pen such that it is
held in place with the tip of the pen against the tape. Carefully rotate the
tire, keeping the pen in steady contact with the tape. Rotate the tire away
from the pen tip - not towards, or you'll rip the tape.
Do this until both tires have a line inscribed upon the tape,
completely around the tire circumference.
DON'T move either tire left or right while doing this. Simply
and carefully, turn the tire.
5. Now, at two points equally opposite on each tire, measure
the front-to-back dimensions on the tires. Note these and record them.
Subtract one measurement from the other, and if you have
less than 1/32 inch, for the toe, then you'll be just fine. I've lived with
1/16 for as long as I can remember with no serious tire wear.
6. If you need to adjust the the toe, then follow IH's advise
using the tie rod, keeping the dip in the max down position to clear the
oil pan.
7. After the adjustment, dejack the vehicle, roll it backwards
12 feet, and roll it forward again. Rejack the front end, and remeasure
the the lines on the tape. Readjust as necessary - if necessary.
All of that would take a few hours at worst - all by yourself.
