[ihc] RE: RE: Gone Postal - Identity Revealed!

It was the previous owner and California DMV that told me it was a 1971 800B
I got my hands on. What I really have is, "one of the 6745 USPS Scout 800s
built in 1966-67." It's a Scout 800. I owe this knowledge to the one and
only Howard Pletcher who saw through my bogus CA DMV model year
determination and found out the truth! Regardless, it is titled as a 1971.

Now all I need to do is find a good 800 grille and remove the 800B grille.

Pete,

I have taken vehicles in to register them in Alabama, and they can look up
the VIN to see if it is "in the system".

The "system" can then tell them what year, make, model, color, etc the
vehicle should be.

The last was my 73 Travelall from TX, never before registered in AL, it was
in the system. Also did a 72 SII from CA, also never registered in AL, only
ever registered in CA, ditto, in the system.

Maybe there is a nationwide database of VINs/vehicles that they can check
against to tell if a VIN is valid for a particular vehicle.

Might be worth a trip/call to the DMV to find out the cost to register a
"1965" IHC Scout, even if they then correct you as to the year of the truck
after
they look up the VIN. :) (possibly an easy way to find out the year)
