You know, I had a rear driveshaft u-joint go out once and it didn't seem to
have much if any play, but when I finally got it apart the bearings were no
longer bearings so much as a fine, sticky, powder...

My scout still has its original front u-joints...  the lower one has a
little play in it and I do want to change it.  I bring this up because there
is absolutely no vibration at any speed while turning the front end, even
with the amount of play in it...

U-joints can be weird some times...
