is there some problem with the stock Ross gearbox?  a disadvantage to the
tapered rollers, since you mentioned those specifically?  anything else i
might need to know about?

personally, i kind of liked the stock steering column.  i don't like the
fact that in both my Scout and the 1110 TravelAll the steering shaft is
exposed from the firewall to the gearbox.  in my B122, the entire shaft is
enclosed from steering wheel to gearbox in a fairly heavy steel tube.
protected, as it were, from pretty much anything and everything.  i like
that a lot.

but this raises a question that i never really thought about before...
that's why the ragjoint is there, isn't it?  to make a collapsible steering
column viable?  both the 1110 and the 800A have a ragjoint, and both are
supposed to have collapsible steering columns.  i never put two and two
together till just now.  do i have that right?
