Re: [ihc] Gearing question

Hey all! Happy spring! What is the best alternative to get more road

back. Will a 70 axle out of some other make fit in the back or would
the housing have to be narrowed? Would that improve my options for
gearing?
You can find Dana 70 axles in IH 1Ts. If you ordered a LS, you got a Dana 70. No LS? RA-15.

I think a 70 from a Ford is a bolt-in swap, other than usual minor brake line issues. John Comer put a Ford dually Dana 70 under his '72 1210, and pretty much bolted it in.

A 14-bolt would be another option. Cheap and easy to come by, too.

For my T'ette, I'm running the 4.30 R&P in my RA-15 rear end, and bought some 4.30 R&P gears for the Dana 60 front end I'm swapping in.
