Do some searching on metacrawler or your favorite such search engine and see
what you come up with. I did such a search a while ago and there are some
new ideas that seem pretty neat. The conventional system is two tension
bars and an anti sway bar.
The bags might help for a load, but you're talking about two sets, one for
each vehicle wheras you only need one l/d hitch setup for both trucks or any
other you might use to tow with. The l/d hitch will also put more weight on
your front end, which is a good thing. First it means less of the weight on
the rear so less bearing wear there, second it should help your stability on
the road.
Just my $0.02 worth. Bags seem to me like they can be such a hassle and in
most cases a band-aid for stiffer springs or a l/d setup.
BTW, if you are concerned about the springs that are appropriate for the
trailer being too stiff for your spring mounts, I submit that the trailer is
too big for the tow vehicle.
