[ihc] Anvils -
Anvils often sell for $100 or more at auctions - this is for anvils weighing
100 # or more. Some are considered antiques and can go for much more. Most
weighing less than 100# are less valuable. If there is name or date the value
may go up. A few years ago I attended an auction with more than 100 anvils -
most went for > $100 on up to $3-400. I don't consider myself an expert on
the subject so take my comments for what you paid for the info.
Some are cast iron (less value) others are cast steel( more value), some are
hardened which should increase value. Hit the anvil with a hammer and listen
to the ringing sound. A dull thud might indicate cast iron.
