Colin,

My slightly educated guess is this: Since it is an "M-series", it
should be 24 volt. The "M-series" was the military's attempt to
standardize after WWII. 24 volt was part of that standardization. Is
the M5 an actual "M-series" vehicle or is it a WWII or before and just
happens to start with an M ?

I would guess the only exceptions to the 24v standardization would be
civilian vehicles not destined for tactical operations, e.g. sedans,
Scouts, busses, commercial trucks used on base. I guess there are other
exceptions to the rule, Mules are 12 volt I think. I presume because
they didn't want to try to squeeze another battery on them.

M5 is a high speed tractor, right? No civilian equivalent to them that
I have seen <g>.

Can I ask why you want to know? Not really a common collector vehicle,
how are you going to haul it?

Try these guys for a starting place. There are some good links on their
main page. I've called them with questions and they were helpful.

Does anyone know what voltage battery one of these trucks uses? I have
heard 24-volt and 12-volt, but my experience with vehicles of that
vintage is that they are 6, 8, or 9-volt.
