Re: [ihc] Power Steering (again)

David-
When you mounted the power steering box on the frame, did you (or your
mechanic) 'sleeve' the inside of the holes through the frame? On the LHD Scout
II PS box mounting, there are sleeves inside the mounting holes to keep the
frame from 'collapsing' as the box is tightened down. I could see that if you
didn't have the sleeves, the stress of the box turning hither and yon would
not necessarily loosen up the box, but would let the frame flex more and would
even cause some 'dishing' at the bolt locations. Thus the box could move. A
straight steer isn't gonna help you, you have the box mounted where the right
side of the straight steer would mount. A very good weldor/fabricator could
probably 'fishplate' the frame in the area of the steering box mount, and
incorporate 'sleeves' into the fishplate at the same time to prevent any
further problems.
