Subject: [ihc] administrivia: Microsoft Spamming

microsoft has suddenly taken to spamming. i blocked one single
source the other day, but now it's sprung up from another angle.
if they keep moving around like this, stamping it out could take
years and cost millions of lives [1]

i am reviewing my options. i am not doing this right away, but i may
end up deciding not to accept any email from microsoft.com addresses.
i will send a note in advance if i find it necessary to do so. for now,
i'm probably going to block a specific IP address on the net.

i might add (i know that there are some M$ employees on the list)
that i do not do business with spammers, and while i am primarily
an Open Source kind of guy, i've still been willing to buy a copy
of an M$ OS or Office when the need arose. no more. furthermore,
as a consultant, i will feel obligated to point out M$ spam to clients
when software choices are discussed (while leaving them to make
their own decision.)

richard
(john meister, if you could pass this news along to xj and fsj,
   i'd appreciate it.)

[1] i do not play the "opt out" game, i do not follow links to opt
anything out. don't even think about suggesting that. when i get
opt out email, i install server blocks. there is no room for
discussion here, this is the policy and the policy is this.
