[ihc] Bongo's wipers

Dave,
I bought a LHD '74 Scout II some years ago, and though it didn't
occur to me at the time, recently, I noticed what puzzled me. The
windshield frame is from a RHD drive Scout II. The windshield frame had 4
positions for wipers though only the RHD wipers were connected. Yes, when
I turn on the wipers they wipe from the stationary position on the left to
the right, and leave the top left (driver's) corner of the windshield with
a quadrant yet unwiped. This is very troublesome in a very hard rain, but
that is rarely an issue here in Southern Arizona. If you could find a
suitable replacement LHD windshield frame I'd be more than happy to swap
you so you could have the correct setup on your truck.

Let me know if this interests you as it doesn't matter much to me,
but if you wanted it, I figured I'd offer.

it just hardly rains)

Subject: [ihc] Wiper arms

I'm having a problem with my windshield wipers. The PO made some
modifications/improvements which, naturally, complicate matters a bit.
This is a '74 RHD Scout II.

First, the part of the windshield frame that the wipers connect to (call
it the "cowl") is not stock. It's from a LHD truck (the RHD cowl was
cracked, so he got a LHD one) and he redrilled it to do the job. Also,
the arms have been modified. It looks like the stock arms were cut and
retrofitted with a standard "bayonet" style connector for the wiper
blade. It works fine on the RH (i.e. driver's) side, but not on the LH
side. On the LH side the bayonet is too small, so a small plastic
filler piece is used to "beef up" the bayonet to "normal" size.

Thanks,

Dave
