excellent point. i haven't really decided if it's ever going back offroad
again or not. haven't had much opportunity for that here, but... when we
were in the mountains of CA, having that capability was pretty important,
and there were some pretty big ruts and rocks that i worried about in the
"road" (track, trail, pair of ruts, gutted crevice or whatever that we
laughingly called a road) where something like that might have come in
handy, just getting to and from the pavement.

dunno if we're ever going to live anyplace like that again, but it's
possible. who knows? i think she wants to move back into the mountains
when the tour here in Fort Bliss is done. i guess we'll see. if i *do*
decide that offroading is in this truck's future, how important and/or
useful would such a tie rod protector be? i think i could probably
fabricate one fairly easily once i see where on the axle it's supposed to
mount.
