By "split nearly in the center" you mean, if mounted on the truck, the
wheels come apart roughly in the center of the tire tread?

Which would be different from something like a Hummer beadlock wheel.

I've seen and worked on plenty of rims like this, however they have all been on low speed applications (like the forklift at work). For non highway apps, I think they are fine, but I didn't think they were ever used for high speed stuff. BTW these "center split" rims are great on a forklift because they make flats really easy to fix, a good thing with the number of them we get.
