i was thinking the same thing, Mark. but then, he said it was fixed and
didn't mention any extra work, so... i didn't think he'd taken the intake,
exhaust, or head off. could be wrong, but... it just doesn't sound like
it.

the original 304 i put in the B122 used to squirt oil out the head gasket
between #6 and #8 cylinders consistently at any rpm above 2600 or so. tried
replacing the valve cover gasket, nothing changed. finally took the hood
off and ran it like that and observed the steady flow of oil coming from
between head and block. great. never did fix it, either. that's the same
engine that snapped the #2 pushrod and broke a hole in the side of the
block.

i gotta admit, i'm stumped. it's not an Improved Cooling, and i don't know
all the differences between the IC and non-IC engines. i only own IC, i'm
not sure going out there and inspecting the ones i've got will help figure
this one out. the Scout's engine is compleatly stripped of everything but
alternator and water pump, but the TravelAll still has *everything*
including the AC brackets installed. wonder if looking at that would help
see what John S is seeing. i'll look later tonight, i think.

what else do you think it might be, Mark? Allan E had some good ideas, and
i had some leaks where he mentioned on another engine, too. in fact, the
BD220 leaked out the oil breather for a while till i took care of it. blew
lots of smoke out the blowby tube, too. i'm stumped. i sure hope the
answer gets publicly posted, though. i really wanna know what it is.
