There was a discussion on the 4-53 on the BB a while ago... the cast 4-53 is
around 1000 lbs or so IIRC, maybe a little bit more.  The Aluminum 4-53 is a
more managable 600-800 IIRC...  the talk was about 4-53s in scouts, there's
a surplus store that will sell a complete running aluminum 4-53 coupled to a
4spd for relatively inexpensive, around $1000 IIRC... (a lot of IIRC's in
there!)
