RE: A/C Compressor Brace?

I have a 75 that did not have a brace. No real problems but it was very
difficult to get it to stay tight. I started getting a lot of noise
(vibration) out of my belt. I had seen the stock brace. I made one using
all thread in the bar running from the thermostat housing that slips inside
a piece of pipe I attached to the compressor. I then put a nut on the all
thread that then can be used to tighten the belt and hold it in place. It is
very solid and easy to adjust. I have photos if anyone is interested.

I believe the brace was added late in Scout production, which means there
must have been some problems without it, but my 78 has never had one and
had gotten along fine without it.
