Dash restoration, fuse box

First I want to thank everyone for their help. Some of my posts on this
mailing list may appear like I was ignoring, for example, Allan's
suggestion regarding the Eastwood Automotive Dash restoration kit. I
was not, but since I'm subscribed on Digest mode I didn't see his post
until later than most of the rest of you.

I'll tackle the fuse box project later, but you guys have really set my
mind at ease. There are a few things I'd like to do (adding a fan in
the cab being top on that list) but I'll want to swap out the fuse box
first. At least I know it's relatively straightforward and shouldn't be
too much of a hassle. (says a guy who spent about 3 hours
mis-installing and then re-installing a charcoal canister today...)

As for the dash. The thing I like about the Acraglas Gel is that, if it
doesn't dissolve the dash foam, it should help bond the crack together.
Will the urethane foam from Eastwood bond both sides together, or will
it just fill the crack? In some spots the crack is almost all the way
through. I really don't want it to split in half down the road. If
anybody knows the bonding power (or lack thereof) of the foam, please
pass along the info. Otherwise I think I'll have to gamble a few
dollars on the Acraglas gel for structural reasons.

While I'd like to paint it (the spray can from Eastwood [Vinyl Coat
Landau] looks really nice and easy) I don't know how practical it is.
The dash is cracked and peeling all over the place. I hate to say it,
but the leather, while being a bigger hassle, is probably the best
alternative. It will give total visual and (probably) tactile
uniformity to the dash. And, if the adhesive is good, maybe even help
hold it all together. Of course, I'll probably be the only guy at the
USPS with a leather dash in his delivery truck, though... Oh, well. If
it does happen, there's two things my coworkers can do about it:
nothing, and like it.

Thanks again for all your help, and any further input (any at all) would
be appreciated.

Dave
