Can Tilt-Wheel withstand torque of Manual Steering Gear??

I to am putting a tilt wheel in my '72 RHD Scout. Since this Scout is manual
steering (no ps offered on the RHD's) is it wise to put in tilt?? Reason I
ask is obviously there are alot of "universal joints" inside the tilt wheel
assembly and I was wondering if they can stand up to the torque required to
move the wheels on a manual steering vehicle, esp. at a near standstill????
In other words, does anyone have tilt, w/o power steering??
