Building stuff

The whole suppliers/manufactures (OEMs) thing is always interesting. The
suppliers think they can make money 'cause they just can concentrate on one
thing (then once they get good they get hubris and buy other suppliers, as
Ken said), and the manufacturers keep trying to push cost and risk onto the
suppliers.

One problem the big ole' manufacturers have always had is that they usually
have the highest hourly employee cost. If they outsource, the smaller
suppliers can often get better contracts with even the same union because
they are always a threat to collapse.

Has anyone here heard of the infamous Inaki Lopez? Last I heard he was
going to make the suppliers actually install their own stuff on his assembly
line.

The best player of the "supplier" game is Intel, who seems to make almost
all the profit off a PC sale.
