I knew I really wanted a stick..
New 727 pump arrived today. As soon as it stopped raining I headed outside.
Disconnect stuff, lift motor, pull it forward.. pull the TC off.. it
looks fine. Put my all-thread into the 727 pump, and removed the pump
in-the-truck. Opened the pump up, expecting to find trashed gears like
my "spare" had.. *LOOKS FINE*
Hmmm.
I put the brand new pump in anyways, thinking, "Maybe the TC just didn't
fully engage, and just slipped but didn't trash anything??"
I made double sure the TC slipped on ALL the way to the tranny, then put
things back together.
Around 1am I finished up. Pulled the battery from the Travelall and ran
the gas hose to my 5gal Jerry can, flipped the toggles and fired it up.
Naturally, dual glasspacks at 1am can be a little noisy.. ;-)
Once it would finally idle, I checked the trans fluid - I'd added a
couple quarter (a bunch flowed out when I pulled the pump), and it showed
a bit over-full again.
Climb inside.. shift into gear.
Nothing.
Rev it *some*, and I can feel it *wanting* to move, but still no-go.
I didn't try WOT, since it *was* about 1:30 then.. but it just "lurched"
a little.. like against something. Not a very srong pull tho'.
I have no idea what stall rating the TC is.. All I did was install a new
front pump and put it back together.
I pulled the cooler line from the radiator.. and fluid spurted out.. just
spurts, not a stream.. but I also didn't have it in gear at the time.
Hmmmmm.
Reading the manual.. I might be back to "clogged passage" or faulty valve
body.. or worse (clutches n' such)
I'll try standing on the throttle tomorrow after work.. if it doesn't go,
I guess it's time to blow things out and buy a new trans pan gasket.
There's still a stock 727 alongside the garage.. but ther's also a close
T19 sitting next to it... I know how sticks work. ;)
