Hey:

With all this talk of white lithium grease, it got me to thinking.

I bought a grease gun years ago, and some general purpose cup, chassis and
water pump grease.  I filled the gun with this gooey mess and used it for
years.  Then, I found out, there are all types of grease and some work
better in certain applications than others (bearings vs plates for
instance).  Since the gun was "packed" with one kind, it would mean
cleaning it all out to pack another.

Then, I discovered the cartridges that fit the gun.  Now, I could change
cartridges and just pump out the small amount in the fill-line before use. 
Great.

But still, I've read all the labels and a few reviews.  And, I'm still not
clear.  What is the best grease for each type of application?  i.e. what
brands and types of grease are binder nuts keeping on hand and for what
specific purpose?  How does one dispense all the different types?  Are
folks just using "universal" high temp bearing grease or some shortcut like
that?
